I have a cool piece of fiat on my desk. It was printed in Great Britain by Thomas de la Rue & Co. for the country of Dominican Republic which shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti. Notice how the central bank tried to legitimize the bank note by including the word "oro" after "peso." I assure you, there is no gold in that note. This note is no longer in circulation, joining the rest of the fiat disasters in well-deserved ignominy.

The next picture is a recent example of zeroes gone wild.

And then there is a newcomer currency which has intrinsic value, and in amounts small enough that they can be used in almost any transaction.
