Goldbacks Discussion: Spendable gold for the people

Postby shinnosuke » Tue Nov 19, 2019

Goldbacks 1 thru 50.jpg
(Picture of current Goldbacks denominations)

Hello Friends of BullionStacker,

In 2012, the State of Utah adopted a law allowing for gold & silver to be used as legal tender on a voluntary basis. A group of citizens there formed the United Precious Metals Association which decided to work with Valaurum, Inc., to produce Goldbacks which are gradually achieving acceptance throughout Utah. Plans are in the works for similar currencies in other states. If I have any influence in the matter, Texas will also be on the list someday.

Goldback is also the name of the company that handles the sales and promotion of the currency. I have an agreement with them to market Goldbacks currency virtually on BullionStacker and in Texas Real Life. The picture above shows all the current denominations of Goldbacks.

Gold Content:
1 Goldback: 1/1000th of an ounce of 24k gold
5 Goldbacks: 1/200th of an ounce
10 Goldbacks: 1/100th of an ounce
25 Goldbacks: 1/40th of an ounce
50 Goldbacks: 1/20th of an ounce
100 Goldbacks: 1/10th of an ounce (currently not in production)

Pricing (including shipping but not insurance and subject to change at any time):
See the Goldbacks Sales Thread: viewtopic.php?f=98&t=32857

(My wholesale price changes along with movement in the spot price of gold. At the price shown above (as of 19Nov2019), the sale of just 1 Goldback will result in a loss for me after adding the cost of the envelope and stamp, not to mention the cost of the shipping and insurance from Goldback, Inc. to me.)

Yes, the premium for this gold seems high, but it is due to the costliness of production process. The gold is “sandwiched between layers of protective polymer.” It is applied molecule by molecule rather than by repeatedly rolling molten gold into a thin sheet.

I fully realize that all you smart Constitutional (precious metals) money members of BullionStacker already understand the importance of owning gold. Unfortunately, however, there are still millions of North Americans who haven’t a clue about the proper role of precious metals. Some of them might be part of your family or neighbors or co-workers. Here’s your opportunity to educate them and perhaps elucidate the path to their financial safety.

I'm happy to entertain any questions you have. The folks at Goldback, Inc. are also quite friendly and responsive.

I received my first purchase (via eBay) of the pack of each denomination -- as seen in the first picture of this thread. 21st century technology applied to the best metal on earth.

Everyone should have at least one Goldback.

Every new product needs word-of-mouth advertising. However, BS friends can't mouth about it without having seen the genuine article. You need to hold one in your hand.

Therefore, we need a contest that will distribute a bunch to the winners. Let's start with 50 Goldbacks, in the 1 Goldback denomination, shall we?

Here are the contest rules:
A. Write your username and your number, 1 through 50, in a post in this thread, as follows: 1. Princess Leia Smith

You have to pay attention and go to the end of the thread to see what the last number was before posting your entry.

B. Then send me a private message and give me your name and mailing address.

C. If you are a resident of Utah, where Goldbacks are an alternative legal tender, you get 2 Goldbacks. Do not put them in your sock drawer. Spend 'em!

D. If 50 people living in Utah are the first to enter this contest, I will send 100 Goldbacks in total.

D.5. Oh, alright, twist my arm. Canada is also included.

E. Stop reading the rules and go enter the contest!

I guess rather than saying "good luck" for this contest, I should say, The early bird gets the worm.
