Just got a very good Craigslist score. I bought two 10 ounce bars, 19 SAEs (1987-2012) 1922 Peace dollar and $1.50 in 90% for $700. The guy I bought it from buys storage lockers and said this is his best score yet, said he paid $5 for the locker.

It never ceases to amaze me when this happens. If you decide for whatever reason to abandon yur storage locker, you don't leave the small, easily-sold commodities in it! You leave the ratty old sofa and the broken freezer you always meant to get fixed. Not liquid assets. I guess some people die and their relatives don't take over payments for the locker, but most of these are just plain abandoned. The junk in them isn't worth paying to store and they don't care if they lose it. But salable precious metal? Sheesh. Take it with you before you hightail it!

I think there are a few reasons things like this happen. Folks end up in jail, folks die and the family doesn't know they had a storage locker or they get fed up and just say screw it and leave a relationship.
I know a family that when dad died they had no idea what he had. After about 6 months they were cleaning up his shop and found a safe behind some wood. When they finally got it open they found it was full of silver, and no one in the family had any idea he had any silver or a safe.

I traded my proof American Silver Eagle for three toned rounds. One is for The University at Texas at Austin (commemorating their centennial), another is a Hutt River Province Koala round, and a 1974 International Silver Trade Unit. I was gifted another 1974 round as I brought in some business.

I bought an ASE for $19.75. She's not purrrrfect. But, I'm happy to have her in my stack.
