I visited The Dark Horse Brewery in Marshall Michigan and met the master brewer.
He set me up with a very special IPA served in a brandy snifter. Finest I've ever
tasted, and one is all you need. Best enjoyed slowly :turtle: :turtle: :turtle:

I'm an old school beer drinker. Think Bud Black (not Black Crown,) Mickey's Big Mouth (aka skunk beer,) and Old English 800 (no additional comments needed). As you can see in my youth, we didn't drink beer for the taste.

Now there are so many microbrews craft beers, I couldn't keep up if I tried. I have sampled none.

My nephew (Joseph Schumacher,) however has way more taste than I ever did in my day and even gets paid for it. So I differ all craft beer conversation over to his blog: http://www.thepizzapress.com/blog/ . He's a sharp young man and carries an intelligent conversation. So rare among today's youth.

Now how great is that? His boss pays him and his buddy to drive around California and sample beer at these places and then write about it. Times have changed. If you're ever at the circle in downtown Orange, they have a ton of craft beers to serve your needs.

One thing I do miss about the OC is you can get almost anything (legal, illegal, or otherwise) you want within about 20 minutes from your home. If it take more than 20 minutes, you don't know the right people.

I have favorites:

Anchor Steam (all time best, San Francisco); San Miguel (a part of my Philippine heritage); and Bohemia Dark (from Mexico). I'll also almost never pass up a good Scottish Ale. And yes, I like to taste my beer now.

I'm my town there a local brewery called the whetstone station. You can do a mug challenge. Where as you drink 99 different beers in ten categories(pale, lagers, stouts etc.). You have a year to do it and then when you complete it you get a 24 oz mug. So from then on you get extra beer for the same price. it's a cool idea and it gets people to try new things and keep coming back. I have done it three times... :duck:

Brew your own! (click the pic to see all of it...)

Edited by Mod using fitimg instead of img so the whole pic shows. An easy change, try it. Right clicking and selecting open image in new tab will give a bigger pic.

You can keep your fancy beer.

"For years I've watched craft-beer aficionados go on about their triple-hopped IPAs and cocoa-flavored English milk stouts while inside I've harbored a dark secret: I love cheap, watery swill. Singha, Tecate, Miller High Life—they're all the champagnes of beer, and for more reasons than you think"

Ireland in Maryland: Guinness opens first US brewery in 60 years

U.S. fans of Guinness won't have to travel to Dublin to indulge in a tour and tasting experience of one of the most recognizable brands in the beer industry. Makers of the beer toasted the opening of the $90 million Guinness Open Gate Brewery & Barrel House Aug. 3 near Baltimore, its first U.S. brewery in more than 60 years.

Pumpkin beers are ripe for picking, if perhaps a bit early in season for some

Pumpkin beers are back – for gourd or bad.

For some beer lovers, the August arrival of pumpkin beers is a tasty treat. But for others, this annual influx of fall-flavored brews coming with nearly a month of summer remaining is a cringe-worthy trick.

I do not claim to have overly refined taste buds -- but -- my favorite beer (so far) is Sierra Nevada "Torpedo".
it is an IPA with some attitude. in addition to the taste, which is really nice......the cost locally is about the same as any other 12 pack - plus one dollar.
I particularly like the fact it comes in thick bottles, so I can put it in the freezer... when I want a cold beer; I want a COLD beer !!

Baton Rouge’s Tin Roof Brewing has earned a first for the state of Louisiana at the country's largest beer festival. The brewery won a gold medal on Saturday at the Great American Beer Festival for its Voodoo Pale Ale, beating out 131 entries in the Juicy or Hazy Pale Ale category.
