went to a beer tasting a while back and I normally don't drink big, bold beers.
just not me. Ended up spending a good $40-50 on a lot of upper end beers.
Loved em all.

my favorite beer. Can get it around middle Tennessee or at the Mayday Brew Pub in Murfreesboro.

I can get it on tap at my favorite bar, Old Chicago's, usually follow it up with a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

I can no longer get my all time favorite. Melbourne Bitter. Loved that beer when I lived in Australia. Oh well. Cant get it in middle Tennessee so it is what it is.

My favorite is Tecate Light. Used to not be available in the US. On my frequent trips to Mexico at the time, I would buy as much as I could and bring it back myself.

If you like a hoppy brew try the Double Bastard by Stone Brewery. Great beer. The arrogant bastard line( lukcy bastard, arrogant bastard ale, bourbon barrel ale) are all pretty tasty, and they have a great bottle with a story on each. I'm IPA or Double IPA kinda of guy, so the double bastard tops their list for me.

If I'm not going to one of the local places that brews their own, it's either Stella or Becks, but if it's on draft anything pumpkin must be tasted, otherwise I'll fall back on hef. I have a feeling I'd really like the Warsteiner, Franziskanar, and Weihenstephaner... anything that sounds German or Belgian. I won't pass up a porter, lager, or amber either. I can't find it anymore but used to really like Jimmy Buffet's Landshark. Also Kirin Ichiban anytime I'm having sushi. I guess I'm a sucker for Budweiser sub-brands that don't taste like Budweiser, which I won't touch.

Backed the truck up

Postby Diamondplate Dave » Sat May 30, 2015

OK, it's a Sonata, not a truck, but still.

Stopped in a beverage center last Saturday that was a little off my normal beat. I had checked out all the microbrews and was taking a last look before checking out when I spotted a stack near the door. Shiner 106 Birthday beer..Chocolate Stout. At $16.99/case, it's half to a third of what most Good Beer costs here in Upstate AndyLand. I was going to grab a bunch, and then I though...it must suck.
So I bought a case. Popped some in the fridge when I got home, and read some reviews online. Actually, most were favorable. Some thought it was "too chocolate-y". Fortunately, I've had some other beers that got the same review, and liked them a lot. When it came time to sample the goods, I was not disappointed. It is rather chocolate tasting, but goes down well and, at 5% ABV, melts in your brain, not in your hands.
I went back today and picked up most of the remaining stock, $165 worth. I'd like to stack a little, but spot is up and...if SHTF, I want to be good and buzzed when the zombies gnaw my limbs off. I'm sure zombies prefer brains with a high proof number, anyhow.

31 days without a beer.. Or bread, or potato, or baked goods... I've lost 20 lbs but I sure miss beer...my birthday is the 21st of June, so I'm thinking I will have a couple that day.. Still drinking wine, so it's ok, just not the same on a hot day..
Outstanding!

No updates in this thread for some time, so I'll try to get this thread started back up.
If anyone is familiar with 40/85 in NC, there is a brewery partway between Raleigh and Charlotte called Red Oak.
I had tried their main lager previously but tried their Hummin' Bird Lager earlier this week. I thought it was very smooth and light for those that like beer like that.
I also tried some beers at Compass Rose Brewery in Raleigh recently- very cool place. They don't serve food, so they have food trucks on weekends and encourage you to bring your own food in when you come. Also in Raleigh, next to The Pit (bbq) downtown, there's an arcade that gives you free play tokens when you buy beer.
I've heard mixed reviews about the Beer Garden in Raleigh, but good things about World of Beer. Duckworth in the Charlotte area was a decent place to go.

Went to World of Beer in Raleigh a few weeks ago... had two flights and found a couple new brews that I need to sample again.

Bumping this thread for beer snobs.
