It's fine now, and it's not an all the time thing, just sporadically where it will take from a few seconds to a minute or more to load.

I'll leave it like this for now. Please post if it happens again.

Re: Input Needed for Website Improvements

It's been a while and I want give ya'll an update on the site improvements.

A new version of the site has been built and is currently running on a test server, but we have an issue. The latest version of phpBB (the software that runs this site) has compatibility issues with the feedback module. This latest version uses "extensions" rather than "modules" and our SHMK Feedback Module has not been updated to work as an extension.

I see three possible options:

The first option is stay at this version and add features, but in the future, this version will no longer be supported and we risk security issues. To me it doesn't seem worthwhile to invest in upgrades to the older version. Eventually we would be forced to upgrade.

The second option is to wait until someone else updates the feedback module but that could be years and maybe never.

The third option is to update the feedback module ourselves, and this is what our developer has suggested. There are other forums that would like to have this feedback module updated as well so the plan is to take it open source and get help rewriting the code. If anyone here has experience with php and would like to help out, please let me know.

So we have a new version of the site. It looks much like this version but the screen is wider and we can add most of the features that have been requested. The problem is that it doesn't have feedback. Feedback is critical to Bullionstacker so we can't move forward until this problem is solved.

At this time we haven't spent a single cent of the money raised. Our developer is an old friend of mine and he isn't asking for any payment up front. He's also willing to lead an open source upgrade to the feedback module, and it would not cost us any extra, but he will need help as the code is quite extensive.

Bullionstacker is a community. Your comments and suggestions are important and would be greatly appreciated. Whaddya think?

I think I recall someone else already suggesting this, but it would be nice if when you click a link in a thread that it would open it in a new tab instead of redirecting your current tab away from BS. I don't always remember to hit Cnrt+click to make it open in a new tab. Very minor suggestion, but if you're already working on the code... ;)

I've always thought open source made a lot of sense. I would vote for this.

Other than that, the new site sounds awesome!

Likely to already have been suggested, but a BS app would rock my house

I attach the thumbnail from photobucket, they click it and get the full sized pic.

I haven't found a way, that's the main reason I use photobucket.
