50 Shades of Gray. And the new 'flat' look just like my Office 365. Not loving it, but things will get sorted eventually. Still the best site there is.

Took me a few minutes to figure out where the "log off" button went. What? Who logs off?

I am not big on change, but I do understand the need for upgrades and such. I can be retrained. It all looks good..... just different. I use a computer and a tablet. Everything that I have tried so far has worked without a hitch. For me you all did a good job and didn't break anything! Congrats!

I'm only on my desk computer, no phone so no problems there. Agree with Garibaldi, on the Shades of Gray. Reminds me of Russian mass architecture. Very utility oriented, could use a little creative pleasing to thine eye look.

I like it.
I accept Google Wallet, Wells Fargo SurePay, Postal Money Orders, and Personal Checks. Shipping prices do not include insurance. If you want insurance/registered mail, it's always extra.

How many warnings from mods did I rack up and never knew about??

Subscribe to this thread is now hidden under a wrench icon at the top and bottom of the page. Wish it was more obvious, since I use it constantly, but I guess you can't have everything out in the open. It would be too cluttered.

My only complaint (so far  ) is that the color thing seems all washed-out. Probably not the easiest on the eyes.

No, that carried over.

Mechanic4hire3 wrote:Cant see who posted last in a thread. Also the quick click buttons on my left are no longer there. Like the gold ,silver buy section...

The sidebar did not disappear. If you are on a phone (or maybe a very small tablet) it will jump to the bottom instead of the side. That way you get the full width of the screen for reading posts / viewing pictures / typing messages. Previously you had to pinch and zoom and scroll around to see everything. The responsive format is intended to make the important content easy to access no matter what your screen size, and de-clutter smaller screens.

It is true that small screens will not show who posted last in a thread. In testing that was not a frequently used feature. One thing it did hide on small screens that we knew was important was the PM button, so we added a fixed PM button in the upper right corner of posts. As we get more feedback we can make more adjustments. Keep in mind that we are working with a software package here. We didn't design it, but we can customize it (to an extent).

The color scheme can definitely be tweaked. Many of the cosmetics can. Our priorities were:

#1. Get the site updated to the current branch of the forum software. This is important for security reasons and because the old version was no longer being updated. As server-side things like PHP and SQL continue to be updated but the forum software is not, things tend to break.

#2. Replicate as many features of the former site as we could. The feedback system was the biggest hurdle. There are big architectural differences between 3.0 and 3.1, so none of the modifications/customizations from 3.0 carry over to 3.1. This was a problem, as the author of the feedback system had abandoned development and had no plans to make a new version for 3.1. BS has over 60,000 feedback entries and Realcent over 17,000. It took a few months of communicating with the author in Italy, testing and feedback, and donations from Realcent and Bullionstacker to get a feedback system built for 3.1. The sidebar is also a custom feature, as is moving the profiles to the left of posts when the default position is on the right. We really did work to make the new site as familiar as we could. It is a different template/style system and responsive, so it's just not going to look exactly the same as the previous site.

#3. Minimize downtime. Bullionstacker was only down for 1.5 hours to make all this happen. We built a test site and worked with it for months to get things figured out, had users test it, took notes, prepared files, diagnosed problems, and did everything we could to make the transition quickly and ensure data integrity. I am quite pleased with how the transition went, and we'll work to address the complaints

Just wondering if it's because I'm on a Phone. But I do not see a person's feedback anywhere by their name or even in the block they have add posted?

Yes, the smaller the screen, the more basic it gets. You can still click their name to see feedback. On medium and larger screens it looks like this:

I noticed the dates on feedback changed. A feedback left on 10-22-16 now reads 22-10-16. Not a big deal just pointing out a change. Overall I really like the changes that have been made

But it's the European format! Much less confusion with a 22-Oct-2016 format. ;)
It will take some getting used to, but I think the site looks great and can't wait to discover all of the extras (like the quick reply and quick links).

We are required to date DD-MMM-YYYY for global regulatory reasons at work, so for the last 12+ years it's gotten to be a habit. :geek:

True, but if Hillary is elected we will feel like we're in Germany in 1936.

Hate change, hate emails and think I figured out how to kill all notifications. I won't post much for awhile as I ain't smart enough to figure out new. Won't be a supporter until I figure it out.

In the upper right corner, click on the down arrow by your name.

Choose "User Control Panel"

Choose "Board Preferences"

Choose "Edit Notification Options"

Pick & Choose...

Click "Submit"

Miss something? Rinse and repeat.

Hope you change your mind. While a little different, the upgrade was required to keep the site functioning and to keep us secure and many months of work went into it. I am sure it also cost the owners some money, which they paid for users' benefit. I bet we will all get used to the slightly different format soon enough.

If I have email notification selected for a category, it won't save when I deselect the board notification box for the same category.
