2 reason they may need the money in hand or they have been warned by pp about taking to many gift payments

200 transactions and $20,000 generates a 1099 and is reported to the IRS.

Disputes can lock your account, funds can be withdrawn as per a paypal decision in a case when you have no funds in your account.

Re: Pay Pal
Going to hijack this thread a tiny bit, so since money orders are used here in some case instead of PPG etc, how does that work? Do both parties send at the same time or does one party, ie the seller hold the shipment until he gets/cashes in the money order. It may sound stupid but I have never done a transaction with a money order before, I like the idea since there is no transaction trail through PP etc. Was just curious of proper procedure using money orders on here.

It is up to the parties in question to set the terms. In my case, I would wait for receipt of the money and then ship the goods if I were the seller but I do that on every sale regardless of payment method.

Re: Pay Pal
with check payments, if both parties are 'established', normally payment is made first, then metal is shipped after payment is received. If you've done business with others here multiple times, I'd just say from personal experience the metal goes out the same day that payment is mailed. In most cases, the priority box will arrive at the buyers house before payment is received in a 1st class envelope.
for newer members, they should still expect to send metal or payment first

PPG transactions are not counted in what they put on the 1099, nor towards that $20k. They only report what has been processed w/ the fee. I keep all my PPG payments separate so I can reconcile them against sales and add them to what the 1099 says. If you don't, you're not properly reporting your sales. Last year I think PP reported something like $85k in processed payments through my one account. When I added in the PPG payments it was well over $100k and that's what I reported.

It sure makes the GB's a lot easier to manage. Had to have a couple of conversations with them after they threatened me but, we ended up on the same page and have had no issues in the last 6 or so GB's. I do understand that it is not for everyone for a variety of reasons and I respect that. Just sayin

Re: Pay Pal
You might have got it with first class if that is what you were saying.
I`m not sure but before I found out how to use paypal shipping when it is not linked to an Ebay sale, I could not do what I wanted at a discount so I used a recent Ebay label and changed the ship to address.

Threatened you with what? Closing your account I'd assume?
