Tired of Re-sizing pictures?

Postby RyanEOD » Wed Nov 05, 2014

Mod edit: We now have (fitimg) an easier way to post images to fit.
More on (fitimg) here.

All,

Are you tired of re-sizing pictures to post here? There is a new button/code on the posting screen to do it automatically.

It is the formatpic= button.

How does it work? Well just click on it and you will get

Code: Select all

[formatpic=][/formatpic]

Then you just put the width, height after the equals, as well as the url. Example-

Code: Select all

[formatpic=500,300]http://www.modernlitho.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Periodic_Table_of_Typefaces_large.jpg[/formatpic]

and it will make this out of that picture;

Click here to see the REAL size of that pic;

You're welcome - I accept gold as payment, if anyone was curious! ;)

you could download this
https://imageresizer.codeplex.com/

and it lets you right click on the picture and resize it.

works pretty well for me.

Do you have rules of thumb for picture resizing using the built in button?
... and Bob's your uncle.

The problem with that is you then have to host it somewhere. If you are trying to post a picture that is already on the internet, a lot of people don't want to have to resize it just to post it here. So, I made this work for that need.

[formatpic=][/formatpic]Let me try

Still tells me file is too big

Is this only for picture websites to auto crop photos?

We really need to have this auto crop function in the upload attachment.

Thanks. I caught that just as you were posting it.

It's good to see that it works with animated gifs. :thumbup:

I am not trying to post a link to photobucket, rather, I am trying to upload a photo directly to the site from my Iphone using the Upload attachments

Im far too lazy to send my Iphone photos to my PC to upload to BS, Im like PITW.. Id rather just continue buying metal then showing it off if its too difficult to do so..

Can we get a feature like this for Mobile uploads?

I appreciate that. It's just that I store most of my pics at 600x480 as most other sites that works on. I ain't got a clue what these things you do, do. It is just to complicated for my turkey sized brain to comprehend. :oops:

Okay so I just tried from a PC,, and it timed out,,

I got to go back to work now.., Even this feature makes it not very user friendly, is there anyway that when someone hits the upload and browses for the photo, that the website can auto format it or is this not possible?

Call in the Oracle IS team, we need an enhancment! 8-)

Easy, you just click the button that says "formatpic=" when posting a img.

then you put in a width and height of 500,400 from your aspect ration of 600x480.

so you would end up with

Code: Select all

[formatpic=500,400]URL of your PIC[/formatpic]
